"Boy From School captures a perfect 80's romantic & nostalgic summer setting with their latest release, the new wave pop song 'Persuasion', the song's catchy classic rythm and sweet melodies do a perfect job to transmit an emotive fresh feeling, the sweet vocals adorn the music in a very classic way, sometimes reminding us of some Nena with less punk and more pop mixed with some Wang Chung or even some early Duran Duran. The production is clean but respecting to a degree that analog warmth from that 80s era. Listen to Boy From School specially if you love that early cool pop rock with synths!"

INSIDE THE TRACK: [artist's commentary]

I (Erin) joined the band about 2 years ago, and this was the first song that I wrote that I brought to the band. At first the group was encouraging, though I later learned that they were pretty skeptical. (they thought it was too sappy) I had written it on this 88 key Yamaha ypg 635 that I had from when I was a music teacher. it has this built-in drum beat, and that combined with the electric piano patch made the song sound super 80's power ballad.

We played live with the band a few times but I was a little insecure about the song and singing lead on it, but alex kept forcing me (not really, but kind of) to sing it anyway (although I did get him to sing one verse) and eventually we decided to just embrace the sappiness and it became known as our "80's power ballad."

We decided to record it as a single with jake rye but we hadn't found just the right drum beat for it yet, so Jake had his studio drummer Scott Gentry take it from dark and heavy to light and disco-y, kind of Abba meets Arcade Fire. (clap clap) He also chopped up the arrangement of the song a little and I fought him on it at first but now I can't imagine it any other way.

We feel like the song is an interesting combination of dramatic lyrics, epic music, set to a lighthearted beat that just somehow works. We also put together a throwback music video that involves us leading an 80's inspired workout routine on the beach. Persuasion is the second single off our album titled "White Hot Light" that will be released in August. Thanks for listening!
