"Mexican-American artist Emi just released her single 'No One Said It'd Be Easy', venturing into a synth punk and cyber punk style with edgy grooves; Emi offers a new alternative to a dark yet uplifting sonic ride.
The track is solid, especially with a hypnotic and syncopating raw and tense drum beat, with a tense guitar melody that carries the soul of the song. The arrangement is embellished with catchy synth arpeggiators that fit perfectly with the mood and atmosphere of the track, reminiscent of an ode to anarchy melodically, but lyrically more a reflection on life itself.
Emi Brito Anguiano really shines as a modern composer with this tune, and it showcases her craft and love for alternative electronic music, a perfect taster from her recently released E.P.
The vocals are edgy, very well crafted and produced, injecting a sense of rebellious nature with a tense, almost pressured sense of protest.
Please follow Emi B Like in her social channels and support this fresh emerging new talent!"

INSIDE THE TRACK: [artist's commentary]

I had recently moved to mexico and wanted to escape the negative reality of the life i was living before and what was surrounding me, so i started writing a new song and gave it the title "no one said it'd be easy." instead of giving it a melancholic sound, i wanted to give it an empowerment feeling. the first synth pattern at the start of the track was what gave me the direction of how i wanted this to be upbeat and danceable. My next focus was the drum pattern, opting for something different I had always been a fan of the drum styles from the indie pop trio "peter bjorn and john", and i adopted their drum style into this but giving it a brighter snare. it was refreshing hearing this play back but in a darker feeling. once my co-producer and i heard the drums with the synths, the bass line was created and we gave it a bounce, with lastly the vocals and lyrics tying everything together. i didn't want to give this song an air of depression and self-pity, instead choosing to acknowledge that yes this life is not easy when the more you know how the world works, but to not let it consume you either.
