NEW TRACK SPOTLIGHT: "Crawling To The Void" by Fragrance. (Dreampop / Darkwave / Synthpop)
France is another country that i recently stumbled upon with its electronic music scene, Fragrance is a french electronic dreamy synthpop / darkwave act that captivated me with their song "Crawling to the void" released recently as part of their newest album "Now That I'm Real". Matthieu Roche is the main composer and producer and he cares about creating atmosphere and making it accesible with a simple and effective club oriented formula.

This is one of those songs that implements the kind of background atmospheric synth pads that immerse you deeply in a dark ambient and strange twilight zone night driving nowhere.

The chords are great like that & actually this is one of those songs that i wish i could listen to a version without a drum track, like an ambient version and preserving that eerie atmospheric mood, don't get me wrong, i loved the track as is, but it's by nature designed to fit perfectly at a night club with gothic/darkwave synth tracks playing until 6am.

The relaxed and darkish tone of the vocals definitely help a lot to achieve this uncertain but cool dark atmosphere that pays tribute to itself in the track title and main lyric line "crawling to the void" but in a more stylish and even glam aesthetic.

Conclusion: I enjoyed the dark atmospheric and in some ways minimalistic dreampop elements of Fragrance, the song hooked me enough to listen to the rest of the album wich i don't have a doubt will be really good. I encourage you to do the same if you enjoy this kind of productions.
